Connie reports there are 125 registered for the conference. There has been a problem with vendors registering, this is being addressed and Connie will notify exhibitors when registration is available for them.  She is discussing the Monday welcome reception with both CHOA –Project Save and SE Dairy who hope to co-sponsor the event. Connie reports Tar Wars would like to present an educational offering with no CEU’s offered.  This is proposed to be a RSVP breakfast event. Connie will email blast from Tar Wars all GASN members about the event. Strong4Life would also like to present. This may include CEU’s and may be a similar lunch event. Room assignments for the Board and Conference Co-Chairs was discussed.  Connie reminded the Board that all presenters are expected to register for the conference and to pay for their own travel expenses; speakers receive a stipend but are not “paid” to present.

Connie is investigating 2016 conference locations and dates. She is looking at the weeks of June 6th, June 13th and 2 weeks in July. The current hopeful locations are Savannah and Jeykell Island, but the cost of conference would increase if Jeykell Island is chosen.

Connie will also talk to our website designer about using the GASN website for future conference registrations.

Board meeting:

Lynne Meadows emailed the financial report to the Board.

Anne Coyle reports she has nominated Connie Trent (2014 GASN School Nurse Administrator of the Year winner) and Rhonda Smit (2014 GASN School Nurse of the Year winner) for the NASN awards.  Anne continues to work on the NASN Advocacy committee and is working in committee to develop a position statement regarding e-cigarettes.  She also reports that NASN dues will be raised to $105/year

Carol reports she is writing an email to send to GASN members for GASN Board positions of Secretary, President Elect, GASN Treasurer and GASN State Director.  Carol reminded the Board that a previous School Nurse of the Year award winner is due a free conference registration.  That information will be given to Connie Griffin.

Babette reported the next Capitol visit is 3/26/15.  All are welcome to attend. The next Legislative phone conference is 3/10/15.  Many Lead nurses have expressed interest in the Legislative updates, she suggested they join the Legislative committee. There was discussion of Scoliosis.  Sherry Coleman is to clarify the new requirements.

There was discussion of room assignments for the Board and Conference co-chairs for the conference.  There are 5 rooms being offered the Board at a reduced rate.

Jason Cyr (web designer) joined the meeting.  The new website was discussed.  Some changes are still to be made. GASN has registered with Google Apps for non-profits. Emails for the Board will be through this. Jason expects the website to be up in the next few days, the site will be public for a while.  The member only portion will be up after the conference and all new members from conference are entered.
