Due to the current difficult economic climate and the uncertainty of many of our school nursing positions resulting from Governor Perdue's budget proposal the GASN board has with much deliberation been compelled to cancel our 2009 GASN conference.
Some of the financial support that makes this event possible was not committed due to the economy and uncertainly of the state budget this year. There are minimum numbers of participants required to fulfill contractual obligations if we were to proceed. This was the only fiscally sound decision that could be made and was done so with advisement of several authorities.
We will schedule a business meeting as required by our GASN bylaws We will honor our School Nurses of the Years at that time.
GASN is strong and sound and focused on the priorities for school nurses in Georgia.
If you are a school nurse, school nurse administrator or health office (clinic) staff, please complete the "SURVEY - SCHOOL HEALTH" so that we will have the data needed for advocacy and for future school nursing events.
Please continue to contact your Legislators to respectlfully ask them to reinstate the school nurse funding in the 2010 Geogia Budget.
